Re-Tooling to Meet Needs

Supt. Ken Brakefield

North Central Conference

I am intrigued how God uses an individual’s spiritual gifts. He knows exactly how to bring people alongside others to help them grow in Christ.
At our ChristLife Church in Columbia Heights, Minnesota, Pastor Russ Couwenhoven had a desire to teach vocational skills to young men in need of transitioning and discipleship. Utilizing his building skills and the skills of layman Jamie McCarthy, the church established a discipleship ministry called PURELife Builders. More recently, José Clavero has joined the team to help provide mentoring and supervision.
PURELife celebrated their first graduation day in December. The men pictured, Harvey French and Solace Emore, completed six months in the mentoring program where they attended discipleship classes, accountability meetings, participated in daily devotions and worked hands-on with home repair, remodeling and construction projects.

There were heart changes for all involved in the ministry. For Harvey and Solace, they realized the victory they have in Christ and that they can be used to further God’s Kingdom. This ministry is a calling and there are more people to touch in many ways.
